Amatsu Therapy for Conception and Pregnancy

Many women struggle to know what they can do help themselves in pregnancy, where so many treatments are not recommended. Unlike many therapies Amatsu Therapy is perfectly safe from 12 weeks.

Whilst we can treat during the first trimester, it is dependent on the condition requiring treatment. It is advisable to discuss your own medical history with your practitioner first.

 Amatsu Therapy is suitable for a great many complaints including;

Morning sickness and general nausea
Often due to changing hydration levels between mother and baby

Tightness of chest or digestive disorders
If the baby is sitting high in the ribcage

Aches and pain in hips, legs and Low back
If the baby is resting low on the pubic bone

Cranial rebalancing
Relaxation to balance hormones and mood, aid calm and improve sleep

Tightness and heaviness
When you just feel that you need more room!

Assisting the baby to engage or turn if necessary

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD)

The two halves of the front of your pelvis connect at the pubic bone which his held together by a dense network of ligaments.

In order for the baby to pass through the birth canal as easily as possible, the body produces a hormone called relaxin which gently allows these ligament to relax and the pubic joint to separate ready for delivery.

In some cases during and after pregnancy the pubic joint can be or remain less stable with a greater range of intentional laxity (movement) than at other times, this could be simply from walking around.

If excessive, this can result in the severe groin pain, burning and  inflammation of the condition known as Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) or  the condition Diastasis Symphysis Pubis (DSP), where the gap in the pubic joint  becomes too wide too soon.

Either way the integrity of the pelvic “carrying basket” for your baby becomes compromised. Other      symptoms you may notice include back or hip ache, pain on the inside of the legs made worse on walking or climbing stairs and pain at night prohibiting sleep.

Amatsu Therapy can help relieve the pain, by gently rebalancing the bony frame, muscles and ligaments of the pelvis and give better stability for you and the baby. It can provide great relief even in extreme   circumstances where crutches have been advised.

SPD or DSP can happen at any time during pregnancy; however it is usually picked up as your bump begins to get bigger and heavier during the second trimester and sits low on the bone.

If you have suffered with SPD, it is likely that it will reoccur in future pregnancies, which regular Amatsu Therapy could help prevent.

If you’re trying to get Pregnant?

Amatsu Therapy can be very successful when you are hoping to get pregnant, by balancing your hormones and balancing your pelvis or “carrying basket” ready for its precious load. It is also a very suitable accompaniment to IVF programmes, where we can help get your reproductive system ready in the early stages with good oxygenation and unstressed tissue and then support the collection and then transfer processes at a later stage.
