David Gilhooley, DO (BSO - London)
David qualified as an osteopath in 1966 and received his Diploma in Osteopathy (DO) from the British School of Osteopathy in London. He then spent three years in Munich, Germany as an osteopath in the private practice of Dr. Arno Sollmann, an orthopaedic surgeon who specialised in spinal conditions.
He returned to the UK in 1971 to work in a London West End practice of Donald Norfolk, DO until the opportunity arose to act as locum for Mr. Vivian Barrow, DO, an elderly osteopath in Maidenhead, Berkshire. After 18 months Vivian decided to retire and David was invited to take over the practice. In 1977, the practice was moved to its current location at 1, The Crescent, near Maidenhead town centre.
For 33 years (1971 to 2004), David taught as a Senior Tutor in the outpatient clinic of the British School of Osteopathy in London. Latterly, he ran a weekly demonstration clinic for final year students.
During the '70s and '80s David took an active part in the development of the osteopathic profession, that was then working towards greater public, medical and, ultimately, official recognition.
He was a member of the council of the OAGB (Osteopathic Association of Great Britain - now the BOA, or British Osteopathic Association. Later, he sat on the ethics and disciplinary committees of the GCRO (General Council & Register of Osteopaths) and, until recently, sat as a co-opted member, on the Investigation Committee of its successor, the GOsC (General Osteopathic Council)
Oliver Cox, B.Ost (BSO - London)
Born in 1976, Oliver is a graduate of the British School of Osteopathy in London. Where he completed a four-year Bachelor of Osteopathy, degree course (B.Ost).After graduating, Oliver spent two years working in a multi disciplinary clinic in Manchester. He is an open, friendly and gentle practitioner. Who will use a combination of lifestyle advice, exercise and osteopathic treatment to provide all patients with the best possible care.
Oliver says: “I believe osteopathy is a highly beneficial treatment option for the stress of today’s demanding lifestyle, both physical and emotional”
